Important Information

PLEASE REVIEW BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

The guidance on this page is general and does not replace individualized medical advice, informed-consent documents, product instructions, or directions provided by your treating clinician.

Your provider’s instructions should always take priority.

Before any appointment, notify Wellness Refined if you:

  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, or may be pregnant
  • Have an active infection, fever, rash, cold sore, wound, or irritation near the treatment area
  • Have recently been ill
  • Have a history of severe allergies or previous treatment reactions
  • Take blood thinners, aspirin, anti-inflammatory medication, supplements, or medications that affect bleeding
  • Have recently received dental work, vaccinations, surgery, or another medical or aesthetic procedure
  • Have started or stopped a medication
  • Have a bleeding disorder, autoimmune condition, impaired healing, or immune-system concern
  • Have an upcoming event, flight, surgery, or dental procedure
  • Are unsure whether you should proceed with treatment

Do not stop prescribed medication, including blood thinners, without first speaking with the clinician who prescribed it.

General Pre-Treatment Guidance

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

Unless your provider gives you different instructions:

  • Complete all required Jane intake and consent forms.
  • Review the service you booked and confirm that it matches your goals.
  • Provide an accurate list of medications, supplements, allergies, and previous procedures.
  • Arrive with the treatment area clean when possible.
  • Avoid applying heavy makeup, self-tanner, or irritating skincare products to the treatment area.
  • Eat and hydrate normally unless you were specifically instructed to fast.
  • Avoid arriving dehydrated or after excessive alcohol consumption.
  • Plan treatment far enough ahead of an important event to allow for possible swelling, bruising, redness, peeling, or downtime.
  • Bring questions about risks, recovery, expected results, and follow-up.
  • Tell your provider about any change in your health before treatment begins.

General Post-Treatment Guidance

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

After treatment:

  • Follow the written or verbal instructions provided by Wellness Refined.
  • Keep the treatment area clean.
  • Avoid unnecessary touching, rubbing, pressure, or manipulation unless specifically instructed.
  • Use only approved skincare products, ointments, cleansers, or dressings.
  • Avoid picking, peeling, scratching, or removing flaking skin.
  • Protect treated skin from excessive sun exposure.
  • Attend recommended follow-up appointments.
  • Contact Wellness Refined if symptoms feel unusual, worsen unexpectedly, or do not improve as discussed.
  • Keep emergency and after-hours instructions accessible.

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising, itching, or sensitivity may occur after many injectable or skin procedures. The type, intensity, and duration vary by treatment and individual response.

Treatment-Specific Instructions

BOTOX®, DYSPORT® & THERAPEUTIC NEUROMODULATORS

Before Treatment

  • Tell your provider about all medications, supplements, allergies, medical conditions, and previous botulinum-toxin treatments.
  • Disclose any history of difficulty swallowing, breathing problems, muscle weakness, facial weakness, neuromuscular conditions, or previous adverse reactions.
  • Inform the provider of any infection or skin irritation near the proposed injection area.
  • Arrive with minimal makeup over the treatment area when possible.
  • Do not discontinue prescribed medication unless directed by the prescribing clinician.

After Treatment

  • Avoid rubbing, pressing, or massaging the treated areas unless your provider specifically instructs you to do so.
  • Follow any activity, positioning, skincare, or exercise instructions provided at your visit.
  • Mild tenderness, redness, swelling, or bruising may occur around injection points.
  • Results develop gradually and vary by product, dose, treatment area, and individual response.
  • Attend follow-up only at the interval recommended by your provider.

Seek Immediate Medical Care

Call 911 or seek immediate care for trouble breathing, swallowing, or speaking; generalized muscle weakness; severe allergic symptoms; or other rapidly developing neurological symptoms. FDA labeling warns that botulinum-toxin effects may spread beyond the injection area and that swallowing or breathing difficulties can be life-threatening.

DERMAL FILLERS & FACIAL CONTOURING INJECTABLES

Before Treatment

  • Tell your provider about previous fillers, implants, facial surgery, dental work, allergies, autoimmune conditions, cold sores, and prior reactions.
  • Disclose medications or supplements that may increase bruising or bleeding.
  • Do not stop prescribed blood thinners unless instructed by the prescribing clinician.
  • Avoid treatment if you have an active infection, rash, cold sore, or open wound near the area.
  • Schedule treatment with enough time before major events to allow possible swelling or bruising to resolve.

After Treatment

  • Do not massage or manipulate the treated area unless instructed.
  • Avoid makeup for the period recommended for the specific product and treatment area.
  • Minimize strenuous exercise, excessive heat, extensive sun exposure, and alcohol during the initial recovery period when instructed.
  • Temporary swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness, firmness, or itching may occur.
  • Use a cool compress only if directed, and do not place ice directly on the skin.
  • Contact the practice before scheduling dental procedures or other facial treatments soon after injection.

Official JUVÉDERM guidance advises avoiding makeup for 12 hours and minimizing strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat, and alcohol during the first 24 hours after treatment. Product-specific instructions may differ.

Contact Wellness Refined Immediately

Contact the practice promptly for:

  • Increasing or unusual pain
  • Skin that appears pale, dusky, blotchy, gray, blue, or unusually discolored
  • Coolness or marked tenderness in the treatment area
  • Blistering or rapidly worsening swelling
  • New visual changes
  • Severe headache, weakness, confusion, or stroke-like symptoms

Accidental filler injection into a blood vessel can rarely cause tissue injury, vision impairment, blindness, or stroke and requires urgent medical evaluation.

SCULPTRA® & COLLAGEN-STIMULATING TREATMENTS

Before Treatment

  • Tell your provider about allergies, immune conditions, previous facial implants or fillers, scarring tendencies, and medications.
  • Avoid treatment over active acne, infection, rash, or irritated skin.
  • Discuss upcoming dental work, travel, events, or other facial procedures.
  • Do not stop prescribed medication without guidance from the prescribing clinician.

After Treatment

  • Massage the treated areas only as instructed by your provider.
  • Unless instructed differently, the manufacturer recommends the 5-5-5 approach: massage for five minutes, five times daily, for five days.
  • Apply a cloth-wrapped cool pack for brief periods if recommended. Never apply ice directly to the skin.
  • Avoid excessive sunlight and ultraviolet exposure until initial redness and swelling resolve.
  • Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, bruising, bleeding, itching, or lumps may occur.
  • Contact the practice if lumps, discomfort, inflammation, or discoloration develop or persist.

Sculptra’s official aftercare guidance includes massage and sun-exposure precautions; individualized instructions may modify the standard approach.

SKINVIVE™ & SKIN-QUALITY INJECTABLES

Before Treatment

  • Disclose allergies, medications, previous fillers, skin infections, cold sores, and prior treatment reactions.
  • Avoid treatment over inflamed, infected, or injured skin.
  • Discuss upcoming events, dental work, or other facial procedures.

After Treatment

  • Avoid unnecessary touching or pressure.
  • Follow the same makeup, heat, exercise, alcohol, and sun-exposure precautions provided for your specific injectable treatment.
  • Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, firmness, discoloration, itching, or small bumps may occur.
  • Contact Wellness Refined if symptoms worsen, persist beyond the expected recovery period, or concern you.

SKINVIVE’s official patient information states that common injection-site responses may include redness, bumps, swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, firmness, discoloration, and itching, with most resolving within seven days.

PRP, PRF & PRF GEL

Before Treatment

  • Tell your provider about blood disorders, anemia, platelet conditions, infections, immune conditions, medications, supplements, and previous reactions.
  • Disclose any medication that affects bleeding or platelet function.
  • Do not stop prescribed medication without authorization from the prescribing clinician.
  • Eat and hydrate normally unless you receive different instructions.
  • Avoid treatment if you are acutely ill or have an active infection.
  • Arrive with the treatment area clean.

After Treatment

  • Keep injection or treatment sites clean.
  • Avoid unnecessary pressure, rubbing, or manipulation unless instructed.
  • Do not apply unapproved skincare or makeup until cleared.
  • Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, or sensitivity may occur.
  • Follow any activity, hair-washing, skincare, or joint-use instructions provided for the specific treatment area.
  • Contact the practice for increasing pain, warmth, drainage, fever, spreading redness, or symptoms that feel unexpected.

PRP and PRF protocols vary substantially by preparation method, treatment area, and intended use. Your individualized Wellness Refined instructions should control.

ULTRACLEAR™ LASER & LASER RESURFACING

Before Treatment

  • Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure before treatment.
  • Tell your provider about recent sunburn, self-tanner use, cold sores, skin infections, healing problems, medications, and previous laser reactions.
  • Disclose prescription retinoids, topical acids, exfoliants, photosensitizing medication, and active skincare products.
  • Stop only the products specifically identified by Wellness Refined.
  • Arrive with clean skin and no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, perfume, or self-tanner on the treatment area unless instructed otherwise.
  • Follow any antiviral or pre-treatment medication plan exactly as prescribed.

After Treatment

  • Use only the cleanser, ointment, moisturizer, or dressing recommended by the practice.
  • Do not pick, scrub, exfoliate, or remove peeling or flaking skin.
  • Avoid excessive heat, vigorous exercise, pools, hot tubs, saunas, and unapproved products until cleared.
  • Protect the treated area from sun exposure.
  • Resume makeup only when instructed.
  • Contact the practice for worsening pain, extensive blistering, drainage, fever, spreading redness, or other unexpected symptoms.

UltraClear treatment intensity and recovery vary by treatment mode. The manufacturer notes that a short-term sunburn-like sensation may occur after lighter 3DMIRACL treatment, while more intensive resurfacing requires individualized aftercare.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Before Treatment

  • Tell your provider about cold sores, skin infections, scarring, pigment changes, recent sun exposure, pregnancy, medications, and previous peel reactions.
  • Avoid tanning and sunburn.
  • Stop retinoids, acids, exfoliants, waxing, or other irritating products only as instructed.
  • Do not perform at-home peels or aggressive exfoliation before treatment.
  • Follow any prescribed preparation regimen.

After Treatment

  • Use the recommended moisturizer, ointment, cleanser, and sunscreen.
  • Do not pick, peel, scrub, or remove flaking skin.
  • Avoid unapproved exfoliants, retinoids, acids, and active skincare until cleared.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure while healing.
  • Resume makeup according to the depth of the peel and your provider’s instructions.
  • Contact the practice for severe pain, marked swelling, drainage, blistering, or other unexpected symptoms.

Recovery and makeup timing vary considerably by peel depth. The American Academy of Dermatology advises following the prescribed moisturizing or wound-care regimen and using daily sun protection after healing.

WELLNESS INJECTIONS & SUPPORTIVE THERAPIES

Before Treatment

  • Provide an accurate medication, allergy, supplement, and medical-history list.
  • Tell your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, ill, dehydrated, or have kidney, liver, cardiac, metabolic, or immune-related concerns.
  • Eat and hydrate normally unless instructed otherwise.
  • Disclose any previous reaction to injections, vitamins, or infusion ingredients.

After Treatment

  • Keep the injection area clean.
  • Mild soreness, redness, or bruising may occur.
  • Follow hydration, activity, and medication guidance provided at the appointment.
  • Contact the practice for persistent swelling, rash, worsening pain, drainage, dizziness, shortness of breath, or other unexpected symptoms.
  • Seek emergency care for symptoms of a severe allergic reaction.

Supportive therapies are not substitutes for emergency care, diagnosis, nutrition, sleep, movement, or treatment of an underlying medical condition.
